Our Newest Addition

We've had a busy few years!

July 2012 - got engaged
March 2013 - moved from Michigan back to NY
July 2013 - bought a house and moved in
September 2013 - got married
October 2013 - honeymooned
April 2014 -  added a new member to our happy family!!

Her name is Lilly and she's a rottweiler mix (at least according to her paperwork) that we rescued from our local Humane Society.

We've had her for a few weeks and our so happy that she has joined our family.  Here's one picture for now!  Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be adding more later.

Do you and your significant other have pets together?  If so, at what point in the relationship did happen?  For us, a dog is such a commitment, we couldn't consider adopting one until after we were married and settled into a house.

Hidden Honeymoon Fun

As I wrote about yesterday, we have officially  booked out honeymoon at Couples San Souci in Jamaica.  Well after I posted about booking the honeymoon yesterday I was browsing the resorts web-site more.  I feel like that's all I've done since we booked it - I'm SO excited.

And now, I have even more reason to be excited.  I don't know how I missed it one of the other many times that I was on their web-site, but I found their Program of Social Activities.  They have even more to do that we originally thought.

To give you an idea, here are some of things that my fiance and I are now looking forward to doing.  We are going to have to make a list of the ones that are MUST-DO's so we can make sure to fit everything in.  It's a good thing that we are going for 9 days!

Here are just some of the things that we get to do (for FREE!)

  • Nature Walks
  • Pool and Beach Volleyball Tournaments
  • Scrabble Tournaments
  • Bingo
  • Battle of the Sexes Game Night
  • Karaoke
  • Scavenger Hunts
  • Couple Portraits
  • Casino Night
  • Shell Painting
  • Couples Massage Classes
  • Wood Carving Class
  • Dance Classes
  • Cooking Classes
  • Cocktail Parties
  • Pottery Classes
  • Mixology Classes
  • Fishing Tournaments
  • Hat Making Classes
  • Pool Tournaments
As if I wasn't already excited enough about the honeymoon, now I have even more to look forward too!
By the way, since I don't think I mentioned it in the last post our 9 day stay is costing us about $3,500 for a beachfront suite.

I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing for their honeymoons (or what you already did).  Where are you going/where did you go?  What are you doing to/what did you do?

    Just Cruising Along....Or not

When we originally discussed the honeymoon, we both immediately agreed on a cruise to the Caribbean.  The fiance has been on several and thinks they're fantastic.  I've never cruised before, but I was sold!  And so cruise we would.

Or maybe not.  A few days ago one of the fiance's coworkers suggested an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica that he went to last year with his wife and said that it was completely wonderful.  The site for the resort is here.

Now we are torn.  We have absolutely NO idea which of the two we would rather do.  Please weigh in.  What are your thoughts?  Cruise or all -inclusive resort?

    Wedding Registry Sites

Dave and I have been working on our wedding registry.  We are considering doing three things:

    1. Hatchmyhouse.com - a site that allows people to "buy" parts of your dream home.  A very cute way of asking for money for a house.  (Check out my post about the site here.)
    2. Wanderable.com or a similar site that allows guests to pay for part of your honeymoon.
    3. Myregistry.com - a site that allows you to register for anything that you find on-line.  You can also sync it with your in-store registries.
The best part of myregistry.com is that we can have everything that we register for available on one site.  Also, by registering in-store, we will gain the registry perks available from different stores.

This is the next big thing that we will be working on, so check back for detailed reviews of sites and stores.

EDIT:  Check out my reviews of various store registries here.  Also, my disappointing story involving IKEA here.
